Selena Gomez’s ‘cranberry’ mani is the perfect subtle nail look to try this Christmas

December is almost upon us, and as part of your Christmas party prep it’s time to start thinking about what your Christmas nail design will be this year.

Although some people love going all out with cute festive designs and nail art, for others a more timeless, subtle look is their go-to, and it looks like Selena Gomez is firmly team traditional when it comes to her Christmas mani.

The singer recently showed off her new nail design courtesy of celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik, and she’d opted to put a festive twist on one of the most classic nail colours around.

Showing off her nails as she held her phone in a mirror selfie, Selena had gone for a deep cranberry shade of red that’s perfectly on theme for Christmas whilst still being understated enough to go with any outfit you have planned over the festive period.

The man behind Selena’s impeccable designs is Tom Bachik, who is known for his work on other A-listers like Jennifer Lopez and Margot Robbie, with Tom sharing the snap of Selan’s new nails saying: “Obsessed with this #Cranberry Mani for @selenagomez.”

Fans flooded the comments with praise, writing: “Selena’s nails look amazing” and “My literal OBSESSION.”

Selena had ditched her longer length in favour of a short, rounded square shape that’s trending right now, with a super glossy finish that adds some extra Christmas shine without resorting to glitter.

The beauty of an all-over colour is that it couldn’t be easier to replicate at home, you just need a steady (ish) hand and a little bit of patience. For Selena’s cranberry mani, you need a red hue that’s slightly darker than the usual vivid red, with a slight burgundy undertone that makes it look rich and warm – perfect for winter.

For a simple nail varnish that’ll give you the look from the comfort of your own home, Nailberry’s L’Oxygéné Oxygenated Nail Lacquer in shade Le Temps Des Cerises, £16 here, is perfect for embodying the moody undertones of Selena’s crimson nails. Finish off with a high-shine top coat like essie’s Gel Couture Clear Nail Polish Top Coat, £7.99 here (was £9.99), that will give it a mirror-like finish.

If you prefer an at-home gel manicure for some added longevity to your mani, Mylee’s Gel Nail Polish in As Red as it Gets, £8.99 here, can be used with a UV gel lamp to replicate Selena’s chic festive nails from the comfort of home, without worrying about them chipping, peeling or snapping before the big day.

Christmas Day manicure? Nailed it.

Keir Starmer says police should focus on ‘what matters most’ – amid growing anger over police investigation into Allison Pearson’s tweet

Police forces should focus on tackling crime, not policing people’s tweets, Sir Keir Starmer said yesterday. In an apparent climb down, the Prime Minister urged the police to ‘concentrate on what matters most to their communities’, rather than being drawn into investing resources in tackling so-called ‘non-crime hate incidents’. Downing Street backed the police over the controversial practice last week, saying it was ‘important that the police can capture data relating to non-crime hate incidents where it is proportionate and necessary to do so to help prevent serious crimes which may later occur’.
