In preparation for this afternoon’s match against Fulham, Darwin Nunez debuted a new haircut, shocking Liverpool fans on social media.
In a departure from his customary tied-up hairstyle, the Uruguayan was spotted arriving at Anfield before today’s 2pm kick-off with the rest of his teammates. He was also seen with his hair braided.
Many in the fan base, having recognized the 24-year-old’s distinctive style, questioned the reasoning behind this daring decision.
This afternoon, Nunez will be aiming to increase his goal scoring total for the season, which stands at seven goals across all competitions. With six assists, the former Benfica star is second only to Mohamed Salah in terms of helping out his teammates.
Salah has a lot riding on this afternoon as well; if he finds the back of the net for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side against the Cottagers at Anfield, he will have scored 200 goals for the club. Liverpool would get within two points of Arsenal, the league leaders, with a win.
At the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City will face off against Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon. Even though Pep Guardiola’s squad has won just once in their last four meetings with their north London opponents, they will be confident in their prospects of claiming all three points.
