In the film, She Came To Me, which opened in theaters October 6, she plays a therapist with a cleaning obsession married to a composer with writer’s block.
The star’s next film, Eileen, a dark drama about a 60’s era prison psychologist who builds an intimate friendship with a young woman who works at the same juvenile facility opens Friday.
The movie was adapted from Ottessa Moshfegh’s Booker-nominated novel by the same name.
The project debuted in January at the Sundance Film Festival. The Guardian said she put in a ‘fantastically well-measured performance,’ for the noir drama co-starring Thomasin McKenzie, 23, and directed by William Oldroyd.
In an interview with Porter magazine, The Princess Diaries star, who began acting in her teens, said she never expected her career to go as far as it has.

‘When I started out [in this industry] as a child, I was warned that my career would fall off a cliff at the age of 35, which is something I know a lot of women face,’ the veteran actress explained.
‘The thing that has evolved during [that time] is that more women are having careers deeper into their lives, which I think is fantastic.’
