Fans are rooting for Adrianne Palicki’s Wonder Woman after reports claimed that actress Gal Gadot would not be returning in James Gunn’s DCU. The actress portrayed the character since 2016 and was briefly seen in the 2023 DC film The Flash, which could also be marked as her last appearance as the Amazonian superhero, as reports suggest that the DC Studios co-CEO has no plans to bring back the DCEU’s Justice League.

Before Zack Snyder took the helm of the DCEU or the CW put the foundation for Arrowerse, Warner Bros. Television planned to produce a TV series following Wonder Woman with David E. Kelley and Jeffery Reiner. After most of the major networks turned down the show, NBC showed interest in the series and ordered a pilot.

What Happened to the Canceled Wonder Woman TV Series?
Considering Wonder Woman is one of the characters that never appeared in Arrowverse, it would have been interesting to see Diana Prince leading a DC universe. Sadly, the show was never up to the mark to be considered a TV series due to several factors.

The initial designs received negative remarks from the audience, with many even comparing it to an adult parody of Wonder Woman. It hardly addressed Wonder Woman’s Amazonian origin and even renamed the character from Diana Prince to Diana Themyscira. The character also seems more inspired by Batman, as she is portrayed as a vigilante who is a successful businesswoman in the daylight.
