Kevin Garnett’s Advice to LeBron James: Ask $500M to Play in Saudi Arabia For a Year

Kevin Garnett says crazy things from time to time, and this might be one of them.

In a Ticket & The Truth segment, Garnett had some words of advice for LeBron James involving money and basketball.

Hey Bron, listen to me, homie. Go in that b—h and ask for $500 million. And you know what the Saudis sat down and chatted with you about? Ask for that. Because bro is doing way too much. If I’m 38 and I’m the best player, I’m asking for $300 million and he can do it. And he is worth it.

Kevin Garnett Advising LeBron James

Garnett’s numbers are all over the place with the $300M and $500M, but he made his point. At 38 years old and soon to be 39, James is still playing at an All-World level. On top of that, he is still improving the small facets of his game, such as his shooting efficiency.

In fact, he is shooting a career-best 56 percent from the floor this year, and his 38.5 percent accuracy from deep is the second-highest in his career. He hit 40 percent in rainbow territory in 2012-13, but on a relatively lower volume (3.3 attempts) than what he’s doing now (six attempts).

James did visit Saudi Arabia in the offseason and caused quite a stir. Even though rubbing elbows with the Saudi elite was criticized by some, James was in there probably because of business projects. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar is a billionaire and would probably like to stay that way. That’s why it’s not unusual for him to discuss prospective future businesses with other billionaires.

As Garnett pointed out, James may find the money in Saudi Arabia too lucrative to pass up. He has nothing to prove at this point. James could theoretically accept a one-year offer just for the bag and return to play in the NBA. The question is, will LeBron James really do it?
