On her ninth wedding anniversary, Hathaway suggested she and her husband take a sauerkraut workshop
Anne Hathaway channelled a coming-of-age version of her The Devil Wears Prada character Andy Sachs on November 27. Exiting a car in a crisp white, textured blazer and skirt combo, Hathaway, 41, stopped traffic as she ran across the road in Midtown, Manhattan.
The actress is on the promotional trail for her latest project, American psychological thriller Eileen. Appearing on the Live With Kelly and Mark Hathaway was asked if she had a “never again” date with her husband Adam Shulman.
“We’re good, we’ve got a good thing… but sometimes date nights just feel like sitting,” joked the actress. “When you have two young kids, just sitting and looking at each other and knowing that you don’t have to say anything, it’s good.

“We had a never again. It was our ninth wedding anniversary and Adam booked us a couple of night at a spa hotel—it was beautiful but kind of like a crunchy place—and there was a flyer for a sauerkraut workshop,” she continued. I was like, ‘Honey, a sauerkraut workshop! It’s going to be good for us. We’ll learn. It’s probiotic. It’s going to be setting out lives up for the future’ and he was like, ‘Yeah, no!’
Shulman “passed and took a nap” while his wife took herself off to the class. As Hathaway tells it, the class didn’t involve much beyond receiving a jar of salted cabbage that smelt awful. Little did Hathaway know, the cabbage must sit in the jar for four weeks to become sauerkraut.
When she took the jar back to the hotel room, Shulman asked what the smell was.
“That’s the smell of our lives for the next four weeks,” Hathaway told him, laughing as she retold the story.
The Oscar winner and her actor and producer husband married 11 years ago. They have two sons, Jonathan, 7, and Jack, 4.
