Selena Gomez refused to conceal her relationship with The Weeknd.
The 24-year-old singer was first linked to the Starboy singer in January and stated she was excited to make their affair public since she is so in love with him.
‘Because I’ve been doing this for so long, I don’t feel like there’s anything that I would want to do,’ she said on the radio show On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Friday. I don’t necessarily hide, but I am completely myself.’
‘I think it’s incredibly difficult when I want to spend so much time hiding things,’ she continued. It’s too much strain, and I believe everyone eventually gets over it.’I simply want to be happy. If that’s simply me being myself, then I don’t mind.’
When asked about the contrast between her current feelings and those when she created the break-up song ‘Bad Liar,’ she responded, ‘I was just in a very different place.’
‘I believe it was more of just conveying a tale,’ he adds. [My music is now] quite melancholy. It’s simply convenient for me. It feels great.’
Selena also addressed the backlash over her show 13 Reasons Why, which shows teen suicide.
‘The subject matter is a very challenging topic to tell,’ Selena, an executive producer on the Netflix drama, said. It had a thriller, very dark, very strange tone about it.’
‘I think it’s scary for people to apply it and bring it to a visual area.’
Selena went into rehab last year to obtain treatment for ‘anxiety, panic attacks, and sadness,’ and she claimed she is not in a rush to record a new album because she is still getting used to stardom.
‘I’ve been doing this for so long, and I needed a second to breathe,’ she explained. I came back and had it for a bit after that, and I believe it’s safe to say I have an entire album put together at this point.
‘However, I wanted to ensure that everything was completed at my pace. I didn’t want to speed through anything. First and foremost, I wanted to ensure that my life was balanced, pleasant, and healthy.’
