Boruto made a triumphant return in August with the release of Part 2, and the series is currently in full swing with plenty of action-packed scenes. Nevertheless, Naruto Uzumaki, the 7th Hokage, and Sasuke Uchiha, his best friend, are currently absent from Boruto.
Although the fans will undoubtedly miss them greatly, in the long run, this decision might help the show and its protagonist Boruto grow tremendously—possibly even surpassing his father as a better main character.
Ironically, the change was made after Boruto eliminated the reference to Naruto Next Generations from its title at the beginning of Two Blue Vortex, thus eliminating the Naruto trademark from the show. Boruto after getting away from the shadow of his father and Sasuke now has a real chance to finally make the story his own, as previously fans indulged in Naruto and Sasuke’s actions and unintentionally made them the center of attention.
Contrary to what many fans have thought, if Boruto: Two Blue Vortex lives up to the hype, it might even be more successful than Naruto. The cost of success that Boruto had to bear was the only issue. The cost was that Sasuke and Naruto would no longer have to be the focus of the show, and Boruto might have finally paid the price to write his story.
As Kawaki formally sealed Naruto and Hinata in an alternate dimension in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations chapter 78, the series only confirmed that Naruto wouldn’t be around for a considerable amount of time. However, Sasuke has also left the main stage and is shown to be trapped inside a tree in chapter 4 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Naruto and Sasuke in Boruto
Now Boruto finally has a chance to prove his worth and get away from his father and Sasuke’s shadow and make a name for himself by being the center of attention of the series as the future of the series holds quite a big battles which would define how Boruto performs as a character without his father or Sasuke’s presence.
Boruto Now Has His Own Story
It seemed like Boruto and his friends wouldn’t be much involved in any more battles after this brief attention was given to Naruto and Sasuke. But now that Sasuke and Naruto have been captured, Boruto will be fighting the newly created humanoid and self-aware Divine Trees. Since they won’t be present for the upcoming, potentially more intense battles against the four Divine Trees, Boruto now has the opportunity to win over the fans and prove himself.
If Sasuke and Naruto return in the future and are spared from assisting Boruto and his generation in fending off the next major threat to the village of Konoha, that would be a powerful picture and the ideal outcome for the series.
