North criticized her mom’s 2021 Met Gala look, a Balenciaga outfit that covered her from head to toe

North West is keeping it real with Kim Kardashian.

During the latest episode of The Kardashians, North unleashed her sartorial opinions on her mom.

In the episode, North attended a fitting with Kardashian, 43, who was preparing for the 2023 Met Gala. At the N.Y.C. fitting with Schiaparelli’s creative director Daniel Roseberry, North was not holding back.

After asking North what she thought of the 2023 Met look, the 10-year-old gave a review of Kardashian’s past ensembles.

According to North, the show-stopping Balenciaga look, which Kardashian wore to the Met Gala in 2021, “looks like you’re getting covered by a plastic bag and you’re suffocating and can’t see.”

The ensemble covered Kardashian’s entire face and body, which was the subject of controversy at the time. Last year, Kardashian opened up to Vogue about her initial hesitation to wear the bold look.

“I fought against it. I was like, I don’t know how I could wear the mask. Why would I want to cover my face?,” Kardashian told Vogue. “But Demna [Gvasalia, creative director at Balenciaga] and the team were like, ‘This is a costume gala. This is not a Vanity Fair party where everyone looks beautiful. There’s a theme and you have to wear the mask. That is the look.’ ”

Kardashian was convinced and wore the full suit, complete with the mask — which she later said made it difficult to see.

“This look on Kim is like a new subculture and fashion statement,” a source told PEOPLE. “No logo, no face, but everyone knows it’s her.”

In the episode, North also criticized Kardashian’s look for the 2013 Met Gala, which took place while she was pregnant with her. Kardashian wore a turtleneck floral gown, designed by Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci. Despite it being a dress that actually included her, North told her mom she flat-out didn’t like it.

The printed gown was the subject of much criticism, and Kardashian later told Vogue she “was crying the whole way home.” Looking back at the gown, Kardashian said she had come around to loving the look.

“Now it’s, like, sick,” she said, adding that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen loved the gown.

North said her favorite of her mom’s Met Gala looks was Kardashian’s custom Mugler dress in 2019. The latex look was beaded to look like it was dripping, while Kardashian wore “wet” hair to complete the look.
