Unique Agricultural Venture: Farmers Tap into the Wealth of Growing Imported Fruits, Laden with Branches, to Garner Sizeable Profits.

Cherry was originally an expensive imported fruit, but cherries can now grow well the care of “old farmers”. This type of tree is suitable for climate and soil conditions. When ripe, the fruit is heavy with branches, producing delicious and sweet fruit that is not inferior to those imported from the US or Brazil.

On a garden of more than 1 hectare of fruit trees, Than first learned that cherries were sold for more than half a millionper kilogram, so he couldn’t help but be curious about this strange fruit.  that this was an imported fruit tree with high economic value, so he spent time researching its characteristics and learning cherry tree growing techniques on the Internet. By the end of 2019, he decided to order 50 cherry trees (Brazilian variety) for trial planting.

According to: “Cherry trees have been successfully grown in some provinces and cities in our country, but in the Central Highlands, they have not been tested yet. Cherries are currently sold on the market with prices ranging from I don’t know how long it will remain stable, so I want to wait for another crop and then consider replicating.”

Mr. Than’s 50 cherry trees, after a period of care, have grown very well even though the soil conditions in Buon Don are somewhat arid. About 10 trees have begun to produce the first fruits, the rest have already flowered. Mr. Than said, cherry trees are not too difficult to grow but require meticulous care and understanding of planting techniques. Mr. Than believes that the cherry tree will bring his family a good income in the near future.

Mr. Than is not only a pioneer in bringing cherry trees to the Central Highlands but is also active in converting the crop structure to suit local conditions. Therefore, from a family with a normal income like many other families, Mr. Than became a “billionaire” old farmer who was awarded the title “Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer 2021” by the Central Vietnam Farmers’ Union. ”.

Also passionate about cherries currently owns 500 cherry trees that are in harvest season. Originally the No. 1 lychee growing land in  garden now produces red cherries that are as sweet and fragrant as imported goods. Mr. Ha shared: “The house has 5 thousand square meters of garden land. Previously, lychees and oranges were grown, but over time the soil degraded, so productivity and fruit quality decreased.”

Mr. Ha said: “While wondering what kind of tree to plant, my family members and lecturers at the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture ( came to visit and encouraged me to try planting the tree. Brazilian cherries. This is the opportunity for my family to come to this fruit tree.”

Because cherry trees love moisture, it is necessary to maintain enough water and water in the morning, avoiding the noon sun because the tree will suffer from heat shock. Because Luc Ngan soil is very suitable for cherry trees, planting and care do not require high technology. Along with more than 4 acres of cherry trees, Mr. Ha also intercropped papaya trees, both ensuring enough nutrients for the trees to grow well and contributing to increased economic profits.

E This year’s total output is estimated at nearly 1 ton. When the tree grows larger, it will produce more fruit. With an average selling price othis year’s first crop his family earned more than 50 million VND, not including income from intercropped papaya.

Cherry mainly has 2 main varieties: 1 cold-loving species and 1 heat-loving species originating from Brazil, which is suitable for growing in Vietnam. This fruit is also known as cherry. The fruit usually grows in clusters on long stems that sway in the wind. When ripe, it is red, yellow or black. Cherries usually have a sweet taste, shiny skin, pleasant aroma, juicy flesh, crunchy, sweet and rich taste.

Scientific research shows that cherries are good for health, help fight diabetes and prevent cardiovascular diseases. The fiber content in cherries helps keep you full longer. Vitamin B2 and vitamin B6 will facilitate the metabolism and convert nutrients into energy, suitable for those who are in the process of losing weight.
