Reports have claimed that Chelsea could be about to be dealt a fresh injury blow ahead of their return to Premier League action.
According to the Evening Standard, the Blues could now be without Levi Colwill off the back of his recent shoulder injury.
In a summer where Chelsea spent big again on signings, one of their best additions to last season’s squad came without a fee.
After a brilliant loan spell with Brighton, he returned to Stamford Bridge with a new deal that committed his future here.
He has quickly become an important player for Mauricio Pochettino. He has started every game so far this season when he has been fit.
That run came to an end in the thrilling 4-4 draw with Manchester City, where he was ruled out earlier in the day due to injury.
Colwill could miss Newcastle game
The issue kept him out of the current international break despite being called up to the England side alongside Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer.
While the hopes will have been that he would be able to return as soon as the break was over, it has now been reported that he may be forced to miss the next Premier League game.
Pochettino is preparing his side to face Newcastle at the weekend, as the tough games continue to come thick and fast.
He will likely be hoping to not have to change his side too much from the one who impressed against both Tottenham and Manchester City.
This of course will depend on whether everyone returns from international duty with a clean bill of health.
If Colwill is not fit to face Eddie Howe’s side, it will be likely be Marc Cucurella continuing his revival at Stamford Bridge with an appearance there.
