After struggling in college, Draymond Green of the Warriors speaks candidly about Bronny James’ selection choice

The NBA Draft is quickly approaching as teams around the league are preparing to acquire some prospects. Bronny James has dominated the news cycle lately as everyone is curious about who may select him. With that said, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green weighs in on James’ potential.

Green began discussing Bronny James and the NBA Draft on the Draymond Green Show. From the sounds of it, the Warriors’ power forward believes James can at least be a solid backup point guard in the NBA.

“He has more than enough attributes and tools and things about him that will make him a good backup point guard, at least.”

That sounds about for Bronny James’ career outlook. He didn’t play much in college after suffering a cardiac arrest. Once he returned to USC’s lineup, James averaged 19.3 minutes, 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Additionally, he wasn’t the most efficient scorer, as he only shot a 36.6 field goal percentage and was just 26.7 percent from beyond the arch.

Bronny James is definitely a raw prospect that needs time to develop. However, Draymond Green isn’t wrong in the idea of James becoming an important role player in the league one day. Of course, there’s a chance James can become a star but it’s going to take a lot of work. But either way, it’s hard to disagree with the Warriors star’s take.

As of now many are projecting Bronny James to be a second-round pick in the NBA Draft. Additionally, there’s always the off chance LeBron James opts to sign with the team that selects his son. So, it’ll be interesting to see how the draft plays out.

Ultimately, there should be a place in the league for Bronny James. Even if that means he plays in the G-League for some time. That might be the best route for him to develop his game. Even though he could have stayed in college and continued playing there. But any team that can take the time to develop a guard would be smart to select James in the NBA Draft.

With that said, some teams that could be great fits for him are the Toronto Raptors, Houston Rockets, or the San Antonio Spurs. Each of those teams could use a developmental point guard and by the time Bronny James is ready he could serve as a fantastic rotational player. But it’s going to take some time for James to adjust to the professional level.
