It’s been 18 years since Keanu Reeves last played Neo in “The Matrix Revolutions,” the third movie in the legendary series. As the release of the fourth installment, “The Matrix Resurrections,” draws near, Reeves is actively promoting the highly anticipated science fiction action film.
As part of this promotional effort, Reeves was seen heading to the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City for an appearance on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” Already dressed to impress in a dark suit, the 57-year-old star was dropped off at the theater in Midtown Manhattan, where he was greeted by enthusiastic fans and security.
Reeves matched his suit with a white dress shirt, a coordinating tie, and brown suede shoes. It seemed that he was coming from another promotional event, as he was carrying another suit ensemble while walking toward the theater’s entrance.
The Canadian actor, known for his shoulder-length hair and a full salt-and-pepper beard, later emerged from the same doors after his guest spot on the late-night talk show. This time, he was wearing the dark navy blue suit he had been carrying, paired with a white dress shirt and a dark tie, along with shiny black leather shoes.
Friendly as ever, Reeves greeted fans and security before heading to another location. Although his character appeared to meet his end in “The Matrix Revolutions” (2003), Reeves and the rest of the team have kept quiet about Neo’s return in the new film, hinting at the significance of the title “Resurrections.”
Speaking on a British talk show with Graham Norton, Reeves mentioned that the new film is “very exciting” and that he hopes fans will enjoy it, adding that it was an “extraordinary experience” to work on.
In addition to Reeves, other returning cast members include Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Lambert Wilson, while newcomers Christina Ricci, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Jonathan Groff join the ensemble.
“The Matrix Resurrections” is set for a world premiere in Toronto on December 16 and will be released in theaters and on HBO Max in the United States starting December 22, 2021, with simultaneous streaming for a month
