It was supposed to be a fun night to celebrate the Jonas Brothers.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas opened up about the night she was absent from the VMAs when the group won for best pop video for their single, Sucker.
The 37-year-old actress was set to be her husband Nick Jonas‘, 26, date for the evening along with his other two brothers and their wives.
‘I was sick that day, which is why I couldn’t go to the VMAs. It was supposed to be this fun night where all six of us got together because we never really get to do it that often,’ she revealed to Entertainment Tonight while at the Toronto International Film Festival.

‘We all have very crazy schedules, and now that the boys are on tour, we meet as the six of us. So, this was supposed to be that fun thing. We had dinner planned after, and then I was really unwell,’ she said during the interview.
‘I think Nick felt really bad that he was there and I was unwell.’
When it was announced that the group had won, Kevin and Joe were congratulated by kisses from their wives Danielle Jonas and Sophie Turner while Nick sighed to himself before taking the stage.

The Isn’t It Romantic actress tried to make up for missing the event and photoshopped herself into the photo to show that she was there in spirit after all.
‘I was watching it from my couch at home and when they won, just seeing his face I felt like, ‘Ugh,’ ‘ she explained of that moment.
‘I should have been there, but I was so sick, and I saw it on his face.’
‘That’s the reason why I love technology. It doesn’t matter if I was there or not. The picture makes it look like I was and the internet would believe it.’

But, the Bumble ambassador seems to be sweeping all of this under the rug and ready to set sight on a new kind of goal: starting a family.
‘Buying a home and having a baby are on my to-do list,’ she told Vogue India. ‘For me, home is wherever I’m happy, as long as I have the people I love around me.’
The two started dating back in 2016, when the I Believe singer slid into his now wife’s DMs.
They got engaged just two years later in July 2018 and tied the knot in India at the end of the year.
