McLaren’s Lando Norris suffers brutal facial injury after partying in Amsterdam with F1 superstar pictured in bandages days before Miami GP

McLaren’s Lando Norris sustained a gruesome facial injury while partying in Amsterdam ahead of next weekend’s Miami Grand Prix.

Norris was pictured sporting a cut on his face while on board a boat in the Dutch capital, having seemingly revelled in the King’s Day celebrations.

Images quickly circulated on social media showing Norris, 24, with a bloodied bandage stretched across his face – although he appeared in good spirits.

It is said that Norris had accidentally cut his nose on broken glass.

His participation in the Miami spectacle is not thought to be at risk, however. Indeed, PlanetF1 have reported that Norris is ‘completely fine’ after the incident.

Norris spent some time in the Netherlands ahead of the upcoming Miami Grand Prix

Norris was afforded time away from the track due to the week between the Shanghai Grand Prix and the upcoming race in Miami and headed to the Netherlands.

He is able to speak Dutch through his mother and is believed to have soaked up the occasion – a national holiday – alongside his friend and legendary DJ, Martin Garrix.

Norris has enjoyed an eye-catching start to the current Formula 1 season, having finished twice on the podium and amassed an impressive tally of 58 points.

He recently pieced together a near-faultless drive to take second place in Shanghai and deny an untouchable Red Bull outfit a fourth one-two of the campaign.

His first podium of the year came in Australia last month, where he finished third.

Red Bull are expected to cruise to another drivers’ and constructors’ championship double but Norris is adamant he will be able to challenge Max Verstappen.

Despite Red Bull’s untouchable status, Norris says he can challenge Max Verstappen for a title

Speaking to The Guardian, Norris also said he is not afraid of the world champion.

‘I believe I can achieve a championship at McLaren, that’s why I signed another contract,’ he said. ‘I think I can go up against Max and give him a good challenge.

‘But I also rate Max, so for anyone it’s extremely difficult to go up against Max in his team and challenge him for a world championship.

‘I am not afraid in any way of Max, I’m excited to be against Max. People rate him as up with the best, so I would like to prove myself by going up against that.

‘I look forward to being able to battle him, but genuinely for position and not have him half a second a lap quicker and just drive past me.’
