Nick Jonas Becomes The First Person Under 30 To Hold A Cigar On A Magazine Cover; Ends Up Getting Trolled!
Looks like Nick Jonas may be the only one proud of his magazine cover with Cigar Aficanado.
That’s based on the immediate backlash the singer got towards these pics…
There’s a certain kind of pressure that comes with being a child Disney star.
Just ask Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff, Demi Lovato, or any of the Jonas Brothers.
At some point, all of these stars have been criticized for breaking out of the Disney mold.
For Joe, Kevin, and Nick, that moment came when they decided to ditch their purity rings.
Nick spoke out about the whole situation, calling it “annoying.”
“Once I got older, and I experienced love, and had sex, and defined my view of the world, and what faith and religion actually meant to me, I accepted that [the rings] were probably a fascinating story to people,” he told a special men’s edition of Harper’s Bazaar.
These days, Nick and his brothers are all much older … and each married. My how time flies!
So, it sort of makes you wonder: are these guys still responsible for sending positive messages to young kids like they did when they were Disney stars?
We’ll just leave you to ponder that as we introduce this latest controversy Nick has found himself in.
In case you didn’t know, he’s a bit of a cigar aficionado.
So much so that he recently graced the cover of “Cigar Aficionado”.
While the singer is “pumped up” to be the first person under 30 on the cover, some fans are less than pleased.
That’s because they’re worried for his health.

They also don’t appreciate him promoting cigar smoking.
According to the National Cancer Institute, cigars contain cancer-causing chemicals that can affect the smoker and the people around them.
It’s even more troubling to fans since Nick has type 1 diabetes.
Thankfully, the singer appears to have the disease under control by taking good care of himself.
Since the images of his cover were posted, there’s been a ton of backlash.

Nick and his brothers reunited the Jonas Brothers earlier this year.
To make sure Nick got the message about the dangers of smoking, someone even shared this old tweet from Nick’s wife, Priyanka.

Thing is, Priyanka has been photographed smoking cigarettes before.

Also, let’s not forget that he was on a CIGAR magazine. It wasn’t like he was on the front cover of “smoke yourself dead” monthly.
There’s been some people defending the singer for his decision.

Despite the concern for his health, it’s unlikely that Nick will stop his cigar habit anytime soon.

When speaking to the magazine, he said:
“One of the things a lot of people say to me is: ‘You’re so young to like cigars.’ It’s a narrative that I’m aware of, and actually something that I love being able to speak to…I think that cigars as a whole should be something that you share with friends, and there shouldn’t be any barriers around who can enjoy them.”
That’s that, folks.
