A NEW bride died after falling into a swimming pool at her wedding bash just hours after tying the knot with her fiancé.

Non-swimmer Elisangela Gazano, 38, was reportedly dancing near the water’s edge when she lost her balance.

Elisangela had just tied the knot with her partner when the accident happened

Partygoers tried to rescue her and called emergency services, but she went into cardiac arrest as she was rushed to hospital.

The mum-of-five was pronounced dead on arrival.

One local report said she had been dancing by the water’s edge when she tripped and fell in.

As well as celebrating her wedding, revellers were also commemorating one of her daughters’ birthday.

The tragedy occurred at a rented country house in São Paulo, eastern Brazil, on Sunday afternoon.

State security officials later confirmed non-swimmer Elisangela fell into the pool.

Hours earlier she had posted a photo on social media, showing her signing paperwork in a white wedding dress after tying the knot with her partner.

Well-wishers responded with congratulatory messages.

Friend Flavia Silva said in a poignant goodbye message on social message after the drowning tragedy: “You were so happy that you were going to get married.

“Your joy was contagious, your laughter was the best and when you put it together with mine, everyone stopped to look at you.

“May God comfort the hearts of your family and your husband. My condolences to everyone. You will be missed.”

Elisangela’s funeral is due to take place this afternoon.
