Conor McGregor named Ronda Rousey and Chael Sonnen among his ‘perfect movie cast’ built on UFC fighters.
On the day his silver screen debut – the Roadhouse remake – was released on Amazon Prime, TNT Sports released an interview in which the UFC star was asked several movie-related questions.
McGregor elected himself as the protagonist before selecting the rest of the cast.
When asked who the ‘bad guy’ would be, he named Sonnen and said: ‘boom, boom, boom Chael, slap the head off ya,’ while acting out a slapping motion.
‘Has to be Ronda,’ he said without hesitation when asked who would be his leading lady. He then chose middleweight contender Paulo Costa as the funny guy while giving former champion Sean Strickland an honorable mention.

‘He used to be a funny cat sometimes,’ McGregor said of the Brazilian. ‘Strickland’s a little funny as well. [He] might be good in movies.’
For his final selections, McGregor would cast his coach, John Kavanagh, as his sidekick and hire Denzel Washington for a cameo. Without naming names, McGregor said ‘maybe a couple of them I fight (fought) with’ when asked who would be the ‘first one to die’ in the film.
Finally, he said the title would be ‘Proper Warriors.’
McGregor embarked on a press tour to promote Roadhouse alongside Jake Gyllenhaal this past week. While on a hiatus from MMA, The Notorious starred as the film’s antagonist, Knox.
Outside the movie, McGregor has been campaigning for his return fight in the UFC. The former two-division champion has not stepped into the Octagon since breaking his tibia in a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. McGregor has two fights left in his contract and expressed wanting to fight Michael Chandler in June before closing his trilogy with Nate Diaz in September.
The UFC is yet to announce any plans for McGregor’s future.
