The Grand Slam legend managed 2k of the 5k run on foot before switching her mode of transport to the finishing line
Serena Williams has hit the headlines for her antics off the tennis court – after finishing a charity run for her own foundation in a taxi.
The Grand Slam legend managed 2k of the 5k run on foot before switching her mode of transport to the finishing line in Miami, Florida.
She was seen hailing down the cab, which then sped to the end. Serena’s sister Venus managed the whole race by more conventional means.
Serena was one of 3,000 runners taking part in the run, wearing an orange Nike t-shirt, black leggings and trainers.

While the reason behind her decision to complete the race in a car is so far unclear, it is likely a previous tennis injury is to blame.
The 34-year-old confirmed in October she would be taking the rest of the year off, after being forced to withdraw from her final two tournaments.

She lost out in her bid to complete a calendar Grand Slam, failing to add the US Open to triumphs in France, Australia and at Wimbledon this year.
Serena suffered injuries on her knee and elbow this year.
