The Straw Hat pirates might be separated on Egghead just like they were on Sabaody in One Piece.
One Piece’s Egghead Island arc has proven to be unpredictable in all sorts of ways, and fans have been incredibly excited for every single chapter of this story like never before. Currently, the Straw Hat Pirates are up against a massive force of the World Government, and this war on Egghead has certainly been unprecedented.
Luffy is, of course, an Emperor of the Sea, and now, victory here is necessary for him. If Luffy does not win on Egghead, then he is most certainly going to be in trouble, however, while his chances of victory were great until recently, the events that took place in the past few chapters have seen to it that the Straw Hat Pirates face more trouble than they can deal with.
The Marines Surrounding Egghead
The Marine surrounded Egghead Island quite a while ago. Right from the beginning of the Egghead Island arc, it became clear to the fans that the Straw Hat Pirates were going to have a face-off with the Navy. Of course, this wasn’t all that surprising at the time. However, when it became clear that Kizaru was calling more forces, wanting around 100 ships of all sizes on Egghead just to deal with the Straw Hat Pirates, things started getting more intense. By this time in the story, fans knew that the fleet was going to be targeting the Straw Hat Pirates. Things would have gotten even more difficult for the crew if the Seraphims, who were, at the time, free, were to fight against the Straw Hat Pirates too.
Thankfully, they were subdued, and the army of Pacifistas was turned against the Marines. Regardless, having a force of 30,000 Marines was bad for the Straw Hat Pirates, no matter which way one looked at it. On top of that, among these Marines were nine Vice Admirals, one Admiral, and shockingly enough, a member of the Five Elders. These forces, along with Rob Lucci, made up for the bulk of the fighting power against the Straw Hat Pirates, and it was clearly too much for them to handle. As much, a strategy for escape from Egghead was established, as that was the only thing that the Straw Hat Pirates could do in a situation this grave.
While fighting against this many Marines was certainly difficult for the crew, much to their credit, they actually managed it quite well. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates held their own and this was largely down to the effort of the Captain, who helped both Saturn and Kizaru at bay. Of course, the crew also got some help from the likes of the Pacifista army, and things looked like they were in control. Finally, fans could see a way out of Egghead, and this was especially true when the Giant Pirates came to Egghead Island. However, right when things were starting to go smoothly for the crew, something unprecedented happened in One Piece chapter 1109.
The Arrival Of The Five Elders
Towards the end of One Piece chapter 1109, Saturn, in an attempt to stop Vegapunk from broadcasting his message, decided to summon all the remaining Five Elders. He did not want this message to get out at any cost, and the five elders knew that the cost of this message being released to the entire world would be too much for them to bear. As a result, Saturn decided to use his demonic powers to create four giant summoning circles on Egghead. These giant summoning circles were surrounded by huge flames, and at the same time, black lightning started erupting from them. It was at this point that it became very clear that all the Elders were now coming to Egghead.
Saturn himself is a very powerful individual, and fans have seen him display that in the Egghead Island arc over and over again. As strong as Luffy is, he has been unable to beat Saturn, due to his incredible regeneration factor, which sees to it that everything that Luffy throws at him simply doesn’t work. Now, Luffy is not up against one of the Five Elders, but all five of the Elders at once.
No matter which way one looks at it, the situation is very bad, and clearly, when coupled with all the other forces that they are up against, the Straw Hat Pirates don’t look like they have any way out, unless a massive sacrifice is made.
Will the Straw Hat Pirates Be Defeated On Egghead?
Of course, when being up against such a massive force, which includes five of the highest authority of the One Piece world, one would wonder as to whether the Straw Hat Pirates will end up losing this battle versus the Government or not. It must be remembered that the goal of the Straw Hat Pirates is to escape from Egghead, however, even escape seems like it is way too difficult, as things stand right now. The Straw Hats simply cannot escape with the Five Elders in front of them. Even if they could, they have to hold out for 10 minutes, since Vegapunk’s message will be delivered in that time frame. As such, it has clearly been established that Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates will need to fight for 10 minutes before they can finally decide to make their way out of the island.
10 minutes against these absolutely monstrous individuals is not going to be easy. And, that in itself means that there is a high chance for Luffy in the Straw Hat Pirates to be defeated. A lot of fans might wonder as to whether this will be similar to Sabaody for the crew. However, the situation is going to be slightly different. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates will inevitably face defeat on egghead. This doesn’t mean that they will all be beaten in combat. However, in terms of the objectives, they will certainly lose. For one, their objective was to save Vegapunk and get him out of there. They have already failed in this task, since Vegapunk seems to have died already.
The only thing that Luffy and the crew can do is escape and let Vegapunk send out his message to the world. This is something that they will most likely succeed in, however, the cost for this is likely going to be great. Luffy cannot defeat all the members of the Five Elders by himself, and as a result, he will likely have to stay behind on Egghead. With him, Dorry and Brogy will likely stay behind as well, while the rest of the crew potentially head to Elbaf. This is a massive sacrifice that the crew will have to make in order to ensure their safety, and of course, the security of Vegapunk as well. Luffy’s battle against the Five Elders could go either way. If Luffy loses, then he could get captured, which would then trigger a rescue arc for him. If he wins, even then, the Straw Hats would have failed their primary objective, and would simply have to save face from there onwards.
