The rest of the Gorosei are summoned by Saturn in order to defeat Luffy in One Piece.
One Piece chapter 1109 was one of the most intense chapters in the Egghead Island arc, and the developments that it showcased were absolutely jaw-dropping. While the vast majority of the chapter saw Vegapunk try to prepare for his major announcement, there were other elements at play that were absolutely stunning, especially towards the end of the chapter.
Realizing that Vegapunk’s announcement could very well spell doom for the World Government, Saturn decided to summon all Five Elders on Egghead, and now, the Straw Hat Pirates are faced by this monstrously powerful group of individuals, who, as things stand, look set on the pathway to victory.
The Arrival Of The Five Elders on Egghead
One Piece chapter 1109 saw Vegapunk prepare for his announcement to the entire world. As fans know already, Vegapunk wants to relay the truth of the world everywhere, however, for that, he needs some time. Vegapunk cannot simply transmit the truth to the entire world. For that, he has to factor in the preparations the world has to make in order to be able to receive the message. As such, Vegapunk initially decided to give everyone an hour. While this would have been ample of time, it also means that the chances for interruption through other external means, such as the Navy, or any other force, were very high. To lower the chances of interception, Vegapunk decided to lower this time to 10 minutes, and, with that, he would be able to relay the message safely, while the chances of interruption would drop significantly.
As the time started ticking, Saturn and the Five Elders realized that they were in peril. Saturn himself was not able to make any sort of breakthrough against Luffy in combat. Even though he tried his best, he was unable to do anything and the strength of Gear 5 was too much for him to handle all by himself. Kizaru, on the other hand, was even worse in combat, and simply couldn’t even lay a finger on Luffy.
As such, the only thing that Saturn could do to tell the odds of the battle in his favor once again was to summon the remaining Elders to Egghead. Using powers that were unexplained to the fans, Saturn decided to summon all Five Elders to Egghead, turning the tides of the battle in the favor of the Government once again. Fans could see four giant summoning circles on the ground on Egghead around Saturn, with huge flames, and black lightning emerging from all of them. It is clear for the fans to see that the Five Elders will emerge from the summoning circles, completely assembling the squad, all ready to take down Vegapunk, and at the same time, destroying the entirety of Egghead Island as well. Clearly, this is quite a predicament for the Straw Hat Pirates. They simply cannot face the might of the Five Elders all by themselves.
Can The Straw Hats Beat The Five Elders?
Right now, only Luffy is up against the Five Elders. All the others have their own respective roles, and it appears that none of the other members of the Straw Hat Pirates can join him in battle at this point in time. Luffy, by himself, is strong enough to take down one of the Elders. Perhaps, he might even be able to face two of the Five Elders. However, against all five, there is little that Luffy can do. The strength of these five individuals put together is far too great for Luffy to be able to beat them. What’s even worse is that even against just one of them, Luffy was struggling to do any sort of significant damage. While Luffy certainly was overpowering them in combat and beating them, whatever he threw at them was being healed immediately. As such, whatever Luffy did turned out to be futile, and when you take into consideration the fact that now he has to face five of these monsters, the odds certainly do not look all that good.
Clearly, Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates are likely going to struggle here quite a lot, and that means some external help will most certainly be required. This external help could come in the form of the Giant Pirates, who, as fans saw, recently arrived on Egghead. The Giants are quite powerful, and their Captains, Dorrh and Brogy, are leading quite a march on Egghead already. In the upcoming chapters, Dorry and Brogy will most likely join Luffy in the battle against the Five Elders, and that is going to be an uphill battle, which is understandable, when one takes into consideration the might that the Five Elders possess.
The Escape Plan From Egghead
As of now, the only thing that the Straw Hat Pirates can do is to escape from Egghead. The whole plan on Egghead was to escape, to begin with. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates never wanted to wage a war on the Marines. The goal was always to escape, and Luffy was always buying time for Vegapunk and the others to safely evacuate and then make a safe escape from the Island. The goal remains the same still. However, now, given that the odds have been turned against them, greater sacrifices might need to be made. As such, Luffy might have to decide to stay behind in order for the others to escape. With him, Dorry and Brogy might also likely decide to stay behind. If this comes to pass, then Luffy will have to create an opening for the Straw Hat Pirates to make an escape, and then promise to meet them on the Island of Elbaf, no matter what.
This could mark the beginning of the end of the Egghead Island arc, with Luffy and the Giants teaming up against the Five Elders. Of course, there is also the case of the Iron Giant that one needs to consider. If the Iron Giant is thrown into the mix, then it is possible that they might be able to hold back these five monstrous beings and page the way for an escape from Egghead. The Straw Hat Pirates will most likely leave, with Luffy being left behind on the island completely. Of course, this might be too far-fetched for some to imagine, however, it certainly looks like the only way the Straw Hat Pirates can even make any advancement if they are to leave from this island successfully.
Furthermore, Luffy’s capture is only going to make the story more exciting, with the next part of the story being the regrouping and ensuring that their captain survives this ordeal as well. Regardless of what happens on Egghead, things certainly don’t look like they will go the way of the Straw Hat Pirates, unless some sacrifices are made here. To that end, Luffy, Dorry and Brogy, or some other ally will have to stay behind to make a way for the rest of the crew to escape.
