Disney+ X-Men Reboot Release Date Finally Gets Announced

The upcoming Disney+ animated X-Men ’97 reboot now officially has a release date.

The reboot of the animated class, X-Men: The Animated Series, was originally announced in November 2021. However, since then, audiences have had to keep up with endless rumors of when its eventual debut would be.

Most recently, the thought process was that, due to the timing of an upcoming tie-in comic series, the show wouldn’t be landing until April.

When Will X-Men ’97 Episodes Release?

Empire Magazine has revealed the official release date for Marvel Studios’ X-Men ’97 on Disney+: March 20 (via The Cine Geek on X).

It’s currently unclear how many episodes will premiere on that Wednesday.

Also released with the information is a new image of the team, including team members (from left to right) Gambit, Rogue, Jubilee, Rogue, Wolverine, Beast, Morph, and Bishop.

What Should Fans Expect When X-Men ’97 Returns?

This is the perfect time for Marvel Studios to promote the release date of X-Men ’97. Following the big Superbowl trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine, fan interest in the group will be at an all-time high.

Recently, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige teased that the series would “really bring you back to the core of who the X-Men are.”

As for what villains will be bugging the X-Men this time around, fans should expect Mr. Sinister to be the main threat (as confirmed by X-Men ’97 writer Beau early last year). Other baddies who will be appearing include The Goblin Queen, The Sentinels, Mojo, and more.

While one could normally call Magneto a villain, this time around, he’ll actually be leading the X-Men—at least for a bit.
