Billie Eilish has confirmed she is attracted to women but feels ‘intimidated’ by their presence in a candid new interview with Variety.
The singer, 21, who split from Jesse Rutherford, 31, in May, spoke about her 𝑠e𝑥uality, body image and why she has ‘never really felt desirable’ as she reflected on her transformation into a global superstar.
She said: ‘I have deep connections with women in my life, the friends in my life, the family in my life. I’m physically attracted to them. But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.
‘I’ve never felt like a woman, to be honest with you. I’ve never felt desirable. I’ve never felt feminine. I have to convince myself that I’m, like, a pretty girl. I identify as she/her and things like that, but I’ve never really felt like a girl’.
She added that she ‘never really cared’ about being 𝑠e𝑥ualised because she ‘never felt desired or desirable.’

Last month many of Eilish’s fans were left raging over a ‘gross’ Lil Yachty lyric about the star’s bust size in his verse on Drake’s track, Another Late Night, off his new album For All The Dogs.
Yachty’s controversial verse was : ‘I let her go, she fine as hell but baby wasn’t stylish/ She had big t*ts like Billie Eilish but she couldn’t sing.’
The star said of the lyric: ‘I think it’s fun! I’m flattered! Yachty is my friend. Drake is my friend. It’s a joke. I do have big t*ts. I love it.
‘I have big boobs. I’ve had big boobs since I was nine years old, and that’s just the way I am. That’s how I look. You wear something that’s at all revealing, and everyone’s like, ‘Oh,?’” You can suck my ass! I’m literally a being that is 𝑠e𝑥ual sometimes. F**k you!’
Eilish, who wore baggy clothes as a teenager and her early career to avoid being 𝑠e𝑥ualized, previously told Elle that she felt that she had to ‘wear a big shirt’ to not make others ‘feel uncomfortable about’ her ‘big boobs.’
‘That’s why I wear big, baggy clothes,’ Billie explained, at the time. ‘Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath. Nobody can be like, ‘She’s slim-thick,’ ‘She’s not slim-thick,’ ‘She’s got a flat ass,’ ‘She’s got a fat ass.’ No one can say any of that because they don’t know.’
‘I’m gonna be a woman. I wanna show my body. What if I wanna make a video where I wanna look desirable?’ she asked ahead of her 18th birthday.
Since 2021, Eilish, who will turn 22 in December, has becoming increasingly more comfortable embracing ‘feminine’ and more fitted clothing.

Still, in June, the Grammy winner admitted that she still had a ‘rough time’ navigating hurtful comments about her body.
‘Dude, I don’t even know. It’s tough, man,’ she told British Vogue. ‘Honestly, nobody can say anything about my body that I don’t have a stronger opinion about.’
She added, ‘I also think that if I was younger, like if the internet talked about me the way they do now when I was like 11, I don’t think I would be able to exist, to be honest.’
The hitmaker went on to admit, ‘I like myself more than I used to, and I’m more interested in how I feel than how they feel. But then also that might be a load of bulls**t because it still hurts my feelings like a son of a b***h.’
In May Eilish and Rutherford confirmed they had parted ways ‘amicably’ in a statement to DailyMail.com.
A spokesman for Eilish said: ‘We can confirm Billie and Jesse did split amicably and remain good friends.’
They also denied the relationship ended due to cheating and confirmed the pair were now both single.

Eilish and Rutherford were last seen together at Coachella in April.
The pair’s age-gap romance had sparked controversy due to Billie being the tender age of 20 and Jesse, 31, when they debuted their romance.
Billie and Jesse made their red carpet debut at the star-studded 2022 LACMA Art+Film Gala in November 2022.
Billie was first linked with Jesse, a vocalist for the Neighbourhood, when the two were spotted by a fan at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights in October 2022.
Eilish, who was previously in a relationship with Matthew Tyler Vorce in 2021, said she was ‘extremely grateful’ for the romance she had with Vorce.
‘I feel extremely grateful for the relationship that I was in last year and I think he’s f**king so much happier now, which makes me really happy,’ she said.
