Selena Gomez Just Posted A Swimsuit Photo Along With A Surprising Caption

Selena Gomez is reflecting on her changing body and embracing her curves.

The Only Murders in the Building star celebrated her body in an Instagram story post. Selena shared a photo from 2013 of her wearing a zebra print swimsuit with the caption: “Today I realized I will never look like this again…”

On the next slide, the 31-year-old shared a more recent swimsuit photo from a yachting outing, where she’s looking over her shoulder at the camera. “I’m not perfect, but I am proud to be who I am… Sometimes I forget it’s ok to be me.”

Selena has dealt with a lot of body shamers in the past, so it’s heartening to see the “Single Sooner” singer embracing her body. Selena has lupus and shared that the medication she takes causes her weight to fluctuate in a TikTok livestream that was reposted on X (formerly Twitter).

“I tend to hold a lot of water weight, and that happens very normally, and then when I’m off, it I tend to kind of lose weight,” Selena shared. “I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what you’re going through when nobody knows the real story…you’re beautiful and you’re wonderful.”

While Selena says there are days the inflammation makes her feel like “shit,” she says she’d rather be healthy and take the meds to help her live a fuller life rather than worry about how it may affect the appearance of her body.

She also made waves on TikTok back in 2022 when she lounged in a bathing suit and lipsynched to a viral sound. “I’m not sucking shit in. Real stomachs are coming the f*ck back.”

In another TikTok Live of Selena’s that was reposted on Instagram, Selena recounts her latest fast food run. “So I be trying to stay skinny, but I went to Jack in the Box, and I got four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings, and a spicy chicken sandwich,” she shared in the video. The Rare Beauty founder said that it doesn’t matter what size her body is. People will criticize it anyway.

“But honestly, I don’t care about my weight because people bitch about it anyway. ‘You’re too small,’ ‘you’re too big,’ ‘that doesn’t fit.’ ‘Meh meh meh meh.'”

She added: “Bitch, I am perfect the way I am. Moral of the story? Bye.”

Selena also reflected with Vogue for their “Life in Looks” segment about having all eyes on her at the 2015 Met Gala when she “didn’t feel good” about her body because her weight fluctuated. “That was one of the moments where I was like, ‘I don’t have to be that 19-year-old body shape anymore because I’m not.’”

Cheers to Selena embracing her current body as opposed to looking toward the past.
