Images from the set of the Disney+ show Daredevil: Born Again seem to reveal that a new superhero character is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A set video from Daredevil: Born Again reveals a new hero may be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The upcoming streaming show is a follow-up to the 2015 show Daredevil, which was originally created by Marvel Television and premiered on Netflix, running for three seasons. Several returning stars are set to reprise their roles, including Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock (also known as Daredevil), Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk (also known as Kingpin), Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (also known as Punisher), Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page.
On Twitter, user bre shared a video and an image from outside a storefront on the set of Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again. Check it out below:
The video and photo, which bre says showcase a scene that sees “a fight play out inside the store,” reveal a person who seems to be in costume as the Marvel hero White Tiger. The character’s addition to the MCU has not yet been officially confirmed by Marvel, nor has the actor or stunt performer underneath the mask been revealed.
Who Is Marvel’s White Tiger?
Although many characters from Marvel Comics have appeared in the MCU in the decade and a half since the franchise debuted, White Tiger is not among them. The most recent incarnation of the character is Ava Ayala, though four others have worn the White Tiger mantle since the character’s introduction in 1975’s Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #19. Ava, who studies at Avengers Academy in the comics, came into possession of the White Tiger amulet after her brother Hector Ayala, the original White Tiger, was murdered.
The amulet sharpens Ava’s abilities, including her stamina, strength, speed, and martial arts prowess. She also has a healing power, sharp claws, and the ability to camouflage herself. Before potentially appearing as part of the Daredevil: Born Again cast, Ayala’s White Tiger appeared in the non-MCU animated shows Ultimate Spider-Man (voiced by Caitlyn Taylor Love) and Spidey and His Amazing Friends (voiced by Kylie Cantrall).
So far, it is unknown exactly how White Tiger might intersect with the storyline of Daredevil: Born Again, which recently underwent a major creative overhaul. However, the appearance of White Tiger would seem to imply that the show will continue to expand the wider reaches of the MCU in addition to revisiting familiar characters and storylines. White Tiger’s appearance in the upcoming Marvel show could also be a prelude to further adventures for the character in the MCU, especially considering the fact that she has previously joined The New Avengers in the comics.
