The producer of the show “Apartment 404” revealed the story behind Blackpink ‘s Jennie casting .

PD (Project Director or Producer) Jung Cheol-min of “Apartment 404” (expected to air at the end of February 2024) shared with Korean media about his show’s casting method, in particular, he emphasized strong on Jennie’s casting.

“There’s really no special secret. My approach is similar to what I did with ‘Village Survival, the Eight’ (a Korean variety show).

When I come across a good project, I make an offer, always asking the question, are there any restrictions that prevent their (program participants) participation?

Luckily, Jennie had a positive experience with ‘Village Survival, the Eight’. We have maintained an honest and transparent editing process, which has built trust with the female idol,” said Mr. Jung Cheol-min.

Jung Cheol-min added: “At that time Jennie was busy with her world tour; At first I didn’t want to invite the female idol because of her busy schedule. However, I was invited to Blackpink’s final concert in Seoul, where I had the opportunity to chat with Jennie.

As her tour was coming to an end, I casually mentioned the casting of the show’s participants.

I was happy when she expressed interest in the program. I sent her the plan; that night Jennie contacted me, very excited about the idea. Jennie’s agreement to participate in the program happened quite quickly,” he said.

PD Jung Cheol-min also commented on Jennie’s qualities as an entertainer: “Jennie shows honesty and comfort with her emotions – which is very good for an entertainer. She is extremely charming and adorable.

Instead of asking her to do anything, I encouraged her to just enjoy the show and be herself – she really shined, revealing her natural strengths.”
