Holmes’s life, though, did take a sudden turn in 2011 when the sudden news of her and Tom Cruise broke. Although none of the parties ever came out to clarify what really went on, people started to gossip about how Tom Cruise’s association with Scientology could have played a big part. Cruise himself, years later kind of let it slip in an interview, that his religion was in fact, a great factor in their eventual split.

Reportedly, Holmes wanted to do everything that would enable her to keep herself and their daughter out of the reaches of Scientology. As a result, even after a decade of their split, none of them has ever confirmed anything with surety.

Allegedly, Tom Cruise’s ties to Scientology are the reason behind his estrangement from his daughter Suri Cruise, as the people who leave the religion are known as “enemies”, and every measure gets taken to separate them from the practicing members.
