Manchester United could be set to wave goodbye to one of the most-expensive signings in their history with Sir Jim Ratcliffe approving a January exit after club-to-club talks
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already thrown his backing behind Erik ten Hag after the pair approved Jadon Sancho’s January exit.
The Manchester United winger has barely played for the Red Devils this season following his very public falling-out with Ten Hag. Sancho has been exiled from the first team after refusing to apologise to his manager for comments he made on social media.
He appears to have little future at Old Trafford and there are already contenders for his services. Premier League rivals West Ham are interested but only want to sign Sancho on-loan in the summer.
A return to former club Borussia Dortmund now appears most likely. Talks between the two clubs over a loan until the end of the season have already taken place, with both parties optimistic over an agreement.
Sancho is open to moving back to Germany, while United are willing to pay up to 50 percent of his £180k-per-week wages to move the wideman on. The deal could also be made permanent should the 23-year-old impress during his return.
Any move in January would signal the end of a tumultuous period at Old Trafford and throw a marker down for Ratcliffe’s backing of Ten Hag. Considering that the INEOS owner is happy to back a major call from the Dutchman, it would suggest that he still has credit in the bank despite the Red Devils’ rotten season.
Ten Hag has already suggested that he is relishing the chance to work alongside Ratcliffe. Speaking ahead of the Red Devils’ defeat to Nottingham Forest, he said: “In the coming days, weeks, there will be time for us, then I’ll know more.

“I think it’s a good thing, it’s very positive. We are looking really forward to work together. INEOS wants to work with me in this structure and I want to work with them.
“We always want to win, it doesn’t matter who is the leader. We are appointed here in this area, we need a winning culture no matter who is in the lead, no matter who is the owner. But, of course, owners can inspire you.”
Ten Hag is expected to hold talks with Ratcliffe and his trusted colleagues Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc. The trio travelled to Manchester less than two weeks after a 25 percent deal for the club was announced.

Ratcliffe is expected to spend several days in the city and will visit Old Trafford and Carrington for talks with staff members. He is anticipated to meet Ten Hag and the current squad, with Sancho’s future potentially on the agenda.
The 23-time England international has made 82 appearances and scored 12 goals for Man United since a £73m switch from Dortmund. He enjoyed better fortune with the Bundesliga giants having scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 outings in all competitions.
