One Chelsea player has taken to social media to hint that his recovery from injury is going well.
Wesley Fofana posted a story on his Instagram of him in a training tracksuit on the grass, with a sand timer emoji suggesting that he is counting down the moments until he is back in action.
Fofana is one of the big Chelsea players who is yet to feature this season after suffering a serious knee injury in the early stages of pre-season.
The issue has unfortunately been a signifier of what the 23-year-old’s time at the club has been like on the whole. Only rarely has he been able to string together appearances due to little issues here and there.
When fit, he is likely in Mauricio Pochettino’s thinking as a player who can be a starter at Stamford Bridge as one of the extremely promising young defenders they have at their disposal.
Mistakes have begun to creep in among the current crop, with Benoit Badiashile in particular coming in for criticism in recent games for moments of madness that have resulted in goals.
Fofana hints at injury return
With Thiago Silva still offering his final top-level experience to those in the squad, there is about to be a big transition when he likely leaves the club at the end of the season.
As Pochettino looks ahead to the future, he may not be too far away from having Fofana back amongst his options if his Instagram story proves to be true.
The Frenchman was seen back on grass over a month ago, with a number of people taking to social media to praise him as he approached a return.
With it already being claimed that the manager is a big fan of him, the future could be looking bright for Fofana if he is able to maintain his fitness in the long-term.
