Chelsea youngster Angelo Gabriel hasn’t had everything go his way so far this season.
Angelo Gabriel, who turned 19 this month, signed for Chelsea back in the summer for a deal worth around £13million (Evening Standard).
The Brazilian attacker was part of the Blues pre-season tour in the United States, playing and training as part of Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team group.
However, the right-winger eventually joined French club Strasbourg on a season-long loan.
Struggles in France
The Athletic claimed this week that Chelsea loanee Angelo has had his difficulties since moving to France.
It is explained that the ‘language barrier’ has been a problem for the South American teenager, who’s playing European football for the first time in his short career.
The report adds that the 19-year-old does have a bit of extra help following Strasbourg’s recent hire of fitness coach Joao Francisco Almeida, who serves as an interpreter.
The youngster’s struggled for regular minutes so far this campaign. He’s got zero goals but three assists in his 16 Ligue 1 appearances.
Angelo Gabriel has struggled
Despite failing to set the world alight, Angelo’s been a lot more influential with two league assists in the month of December.
Hopefully, the skilful forward can build on that in the New Year and become more influential for Patrick Vieira’s Strasbourg outfit.
Gianluca Di Marzio claimed back in the summer that Chelsea boss Pochettino wanted to keep Angelo with the first-team squad during the 2023/24 campaign.
It’s not all gone to plan for Angelo in France and perhaps a year around Chelsea’s main group could’ve helped, but this is all valuable experience during his development.
