Conor McGregor shares behind-the-scenes look at gym he’s building for UFC comeback camp

Conor McGregor has given fans a brief look at his comeback camp.

‘Notorious’ hasn’t fought since breaking his leg during a trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021 – but he is expected to return to fighting next year.

On Thursday afternoon, McGregor took to X – formerly known as Twitter – and posted a picture of what appears to be an MMA gym being built under a large tent.

It’s currently unclear exactly where it is or when construction will be finished, but the 35-year-old confirmed what it will be used for by adding three words.

McGregor captioned the post: “Champ Champ camp.”

The Irishman edited the post a couple of times before deleting it altogether – but the image remains on his Instagram story for all to see.

‘Mystic Mac’ was crowned the first dual-weight champion in UFC history when he stopped lightweight titleholder Eddie Alvarez in 2016 after knocking out featherweight king Jose Aldo a year earlier.

Since then, he’s become one of the richest sportspeople on the planet thanks to his superstar status and thriving business empire.

Despite all his success outside of the Octagon, McGregor is desperate to get his career back on track after recording just one win since famously beating Alvarez six years ago.

So, he’s using his riches to build the perfect gym for his return bout.

McGregor will soon begin using it to prepare to face Michael Chandler.

The pair have been booked to fight since February, and they even filmed a series of The Ultimate Fighter together before their bout was delayed until 2024.

UFC CEO Dana White remains coy on exactly when and where McGregor will face Chandler but he has insisted the bout will take place within the next 12 months.

McGregor’s long-time coach, John Kavanagh, recently told talkSPORT.com the fight will happen before the end of June, while Chandler suggested it could take place even earlier in a separate interview.

UFC fans are waiting anxiously for an official announcement on what will almost certainly be the biggest fight in MMA next year.
