Mauricio Pochettino has been forced to make a number of changes for Chelsea’s clash with Sheffield United but may have sprung a surprise with Enzo Fernandez on the bench
Mauricio Pochettino has made five changes to his Chelsea lineup to face Sheffield United. Enzo Fernandez has dropped to the bench to join Christopher Nkunku who could make his Chelsea debut on Saturday afternoon.
Djordje Petrovic makes his first Chelsea start at Stamford Bridge with Robert Sanchez ruled out and will be protected by a changed defence. Reece James and Marc Cucurella drop out of the side due to injuries to be replaced by Thiago Silva and Levi Colwill. Silva will return to the centre of defence with Disasi set to play at full back.
The Blues have made an adjustment in midfield as Fernandez drops out of the team, with Conor Gallagher and Moises Caicedo once again featuring at the base of midfield. Ahead of them seems to be Cole Palmer who takes the No.10 role.
That sees Raheem Sterling come into the side as Pochettino opts to use the 28-year-old and Mykhailo Mudryk on the wings. They will play in support of Nicolas Jackson who comes back into the starting lineup ahead of Armando Broja.
The Albania forward is joined on the bench by Nkunku for the first time as the Frenchman could possibly play his first minutes after getting injured against Borussia Dortmund in pre-season.
Chelsea starting XI – Petrovic; Disasi, Silva, Badiashile, Colwill; Caicedo, Gallagher, Sterling, Palmer, Mudryk, Jackson.
