SHA’CARRI RICHARDSON TO HAVE TRACK FIELD RENAMED AFTER HER BY DALLAS SCHOOL DISTRICT

Sha’Carri Richardson deserves her latest honor!

The Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees voted recently to rename the track field at Jesse Owens Athletic Complex’s John Kincaide Stadium, reports Olympics.com. In a unanimous decision, the track will now be named after three-time world medalist Richardson, who has been making history as one of the fastest women in the world.

The 23-year-old perfected her sprinting in the city, becoming an eight-time State Champion while attending Carter High School, which is located not far from the Jesse Owens Complex. Richardson then headed to Louisiana State University where she catapulted into prominence, setting a new 100m collegiate record of 10.75.

Richardson says the moment is full circle and means a lot to her.

“This means so much. If you from the city, you know the stadium is rooted in memories. I’m literally speechless,” she wrote on social media.

The track phenom has already made a name for herself, coming back to the track after a harrowing ordeal that prevented her from going to the Olympics.

After two years of fighting her way back to the top, Richardson recently secured her first U.S. 100m title with a record breaking 10.65 run. She has already been shortlisted for the Female World Athlete of the Year and just made an appearance at a Formula one race in Austin, Texas.

While this is a special moment for Richardson, we are sure that she will continue to break even more records and rack up many more accolades and honors over the course of her bright career.
