The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers met on Tuesday night, which saw LeBron James make a bit of history.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is no stranger to making history, and he again hit a milestone when they played host to the Phoenix Suns in Tuesday night’s NBA In-Season Tournament Quarterfinals.
From Anthony Gharib on Twitter/X:
“LeBron James is the first #Lakers player with 20 points, 10 assists, and 5 steals in a game since Kobe Bryant against the Clippers in Nov. 2004, per @ESPNStatsInfo. LeBron also becomes the oldest player with 5 steals in a game since the stat became official in 1973-74.”
James finished with 31 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and five steals in what was another thrilling battle against Kevin Durant.
“One of the greatest to ever play this game. We have had so many matchups throughout our career,” James said earlier this season on playing Durant.
“We had an opportunity to play on an Olympic team as well. We both have made our mark on history in this game. It is always special to share the floor with him. Whether it is during the summertime or throughout our career going against each other throughout the regular season or postseason. Absolutely talented guy and one of the best basketball players to ever play this game. It is always an honor to play against him.”
Los Angeles ultimately defeated Phoenix in 106-103 fashion to advance to Las Vegas, where they’ll play in the NBA In-Season Tournament Semifinals. If they win, they’ll play in the championship game on Saturday.
The Lakers have now won all three matchups against Phoenix this season.
