Angelina Jolie launches fashion label

Angelina Jolie launched the Atelier Jolie brand including a boutique, creative space and costume design for customers and brands.

In an interview with WSJ Magazine on the occasion of the launch of Atelier Jolie on December 5, the star said that the company is different from famous fashion brands today: Creating a committee to help brands access supplies and processes manufacture.

The store sells Atelier Jolie apparel and brands in the sustainable fashion space (a development direction that helps minimize environmental impact). Customers can also repair their clothes or create new clothes from inventory fabric. “Can we avoid causing harm to the Earth and garment workers? Can I go somewhere, enjoy designing clothes and wear them without hurting anyone and be kind to others?” everyone?”, the star said about Atelier Jolie’s purpose.

In addition to a traditional retail location, the space also includes an Eat Offbeat cafe run by refugee and immigrant chefs. Atelier Jolie also has a showroom where educational events on sewing techniques such as silk-screen printing and embroidery are held. In the future, Jolie hopes to present topics related to sustainability and art here.

The brand is headquartered in NoHo, New York, over 600,000 square meters, formerly the home of artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. According to an advertisement, this place rents for 60,000 USD per month with a minimum 10-year contract. However, Jolie’s representative said a cheaper and shorter-term agreement had been reached. Jolie plans to lose money in the long run but remains satisfied: “If in the end, I can make what I think are improvements and achieve balance, that will be a great success.”

Also in the interview, the star talked more about her personal life, not having many friends but always relying on her children: “They are the closest people and my best friends. The strength of the whole family is each person.” “We’re all different. We’re still healing.” She added that she does not socialize with many people and is not currently dating anyone. The six women Jolie is close to are mostly refugees, coming from war backgrounds.

According to Vogue, Pax Thien and Zahara participated and supported their mother in building the company a lot. Pax Thien researched designs to decorate the office, Jolie and Zahara found locations.
