Rosé caused controversy for using sensitive words when wishing Jisoo a happy birthday

Rosé had to delete a post congratulating BLACKPINK’s eldest sister because of a harmful acronym.

On January 3, Rosé updated her Instagram Story with a photo wishing Jisoo a happy birthday with the caption:  “Wishing you a very happy birthday, our cute eldest sister, Jisunni (Jisoo unnie). I hope you have the happiest day in the world. I love you.”

Rose’s original caption

Seemingly normal, Rosé’s story encountered controversy because of the way she abbreviated the word “very very” (“neomu neomu” in Korean) to “nomu nomu”, an expression considered inflammatory language. hostile.

Korean news site Money Today said “nomu” was a word used by the opposition to disparage the late Korean President Roh Moo Hyun.

Previously, girl group Crayon Pop was boycotted by the domestic advertising industry after using the phrase “nomu nomu” on social networks.

It seems that BLACKPINK ‘s main vocalist was also aware of the problem and quickly corrected his story afterwards. At this point, the controversy calmed down because netizens thought that Rosé accidentally wrote that.

The story was deleted and Rosé also edited the caption

On the other hand, one day before Jisoo’s birthday, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK’s eldest sister will be the last member of the group to debut solo:

“While Jisoo has been busy with her world tour since last year, she still works with music professionals in her free time. She completed the photo shoot (for her solo album) to keep her promise to fans. Jisoo will be back soon with good news for you.”
