วันที่ 27 พฤศจิกายน 2566 เดอะ ซัน, เดอะ มิร์เรอร์ และ บีบีซี สปอร์ต สื่อดังเมืองผู้ดีรายงานตรงกันว่า เทรนต์ อเล็กซานเดอร์-อาร์โนลด์ แบ็กขวาลิเวอร์พูล อาจโดน สมาคมฟุตบอลอังกฤษ (เอฟเอ) ลงโทษย้อนหลังจากเหตุการณ์ในเกมพรีเมียร์ลีก อังกฤษ นัดล่าสุด ซึ่งบุกไปเสมอ แมนเชสเตอร์ ซิตี้ 1-1 เมื่อวันเสาร์ที่ผ่านมา
สาเหตุเนื่องจาก เทรนต์ อเล็กซานเดอร์-อาร์โนลด์ แสดงพฤติกรรมเข้าข่ายยั่วยุแฟนบอล แมนฯ ซิตี้ หลังทำประตูตีเสมอ 1-1 ให้ ลิเวอร์พูล ในนาทีที่ 80 ก่อนแสดงท่าดีใจด้วยการเอานิ้วชี้ขึ้นมาแตะที่ปากต่อหน้าสาวก “เรือใบสีฟ้า” พร้อมทั้งออกมาให้สัมภาษณ์ยอมรับหลังจบเกมว่า “เป็นเรื่องดีเสมอที่ได้ดีใจต่อหน้าแฟนบอลคู่แข่ง การได้เห็นหน้าทุกคนแบบนั้นมันตลกจริงๆ”

ทั้งนี้ กฎข้อที่ 12 ของ เอฟเอ ระบุว่า ผู้เล่นต้องได้รับการเตือน สำหรับการแสดงท่าทางหรือการกระทำในลักษณะยั่วยุ เยาะเย้ย หรือยั่วโทสะ
แม้ คริส คาวานาห์ ผู้ตัดสินในเกมแมนฯ ซิตี้ เสมอ ลิเวอร์พูล จะไม่ลงโทษใดๆ กับ เทรนต์ อเล็กซานเดอร์-อาร์โนลด์ แต่ก็ยังไม่มีการยืนยันว่าเขาได้เขียนรายงานหลังจบเกมถึงการดีใจของดาวเตะ “หงส์แดง” หรือไม่ ซึ่งหากมีการพูดถึงก็เป็นไปได้ว่า เอฟเอ อาจพิจารณาบทลงโทษย้อนหลัง
