Jennie plays The Idol because ‘she can be herself’

Accordingly, Jennie’s character in The Idol was renamed Dyanne, a member of Tedros’ cult, trying to become a pop star like main character Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp).

In an interview with Billboard , when asked about concerns that the role would affect her image, Jennie expressed her trust in director Sam Levinson.

The K-pop star said: “This was an opportunity for me to be myself and be brave in my first role. I didn’t really practice much for the role, or prepare anything.” . Sam wants me to just be myself.”

Korean news agency Yonhap quoted Jennie about the reason for choosing the role: “I found the script very attractive, so I wanted to participate in the movie.

I feel very excited. And I will try hard, so please love and support my role.”

Jennie explained in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that what attracted her to the film was that this story reflected the reality of the music industry.

Jennie herself went through extensive training to become a K-pop star. However, with her first role, she also encountered many difficulties. Jennie said she felt scared when she learned that this was a large-scale Hollywood project.

She further shared with The Hollywood Reporter: “I’ve never experienced anything like that before. It was like breaking a wall for me.” Jenie also added that Lily-Rose Depp is the person who always helps her reduce stress on set.
