Chelsea confirm £39m player could be about to miss his first game since November due to injury

Chelsea’s weekly injury update has just landed, with it spelling more bad news for Blues fans.

The list of unavailable stars posted on their website weekly has been unbelievable as far as they are concerned this season, however unfortunately for all the wrong reasons.

The likes of Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana and Christopher Nkunku have hardly been available to feature this season, despite the fact they all set the club back a large amount of money.

Chelsea hit by horrific injury luck

In fact, at has been very difficult to find a Blue who has been available for the majoirty of the campaign.

One of those has been Axel Disasi, who has established himself as somewhat of a fan favourite due to his animated and emotional reactions whilst playing and celebrating.

Since signing for £39m last summer, the Frenchman has impressed mostly by the fact that he has only missed two games in all competitions so far, with him being on the bench for those matches.

Axel Disasi confirmed to be injured

However, it looks as if he is about to miss his first one due to injury, with the club update saying he is undergoing medical assessment.

He is not the only player who has been added to the growing list, with Enzo Fernandez and Raheem Sterling also new additions for injury and illness respectively.

It remains to be seen who manager Mauricio Pochettino now looks to bring in at the back to replace Disasi, with him hoping Malo Gusto is fit enough to start at right-back for the game on Monday night.

It does mean that Thiago Silva is likely to keep his place at the back after finding the net last time out, however being largely left out of plans in recent weeks.

He is likely to be partnered by Benoit Badiashile, who it is fair to say is not enjoying the best of times right now.
