“It hurts,” Draymond Green receives tough honesty from Klay Thompson over his on-court conduct and ejections

Draymond Green is without a doubt one of the most important stars of the Golden State Warriors dynasty. This is why the team has generally struggled whenever he is ejected or suspended. All over the world, everyone has given their version of what the Warriors are facing. However, finally, fellow teammate Klay Thompson gets brutally honest about what they feel as teammates whenever something like that happens.

As a guest on The Draymond Green Show, host Green asked his teammate of so many years to give an honest take about how they feel.

When you’re not out there, it’s like a piece of us is gone. We could never be ourselves and have the freedom we do on the court, without you. II does hurt. That like disappointment, and that feeling of just like shaking your head that just comes from like, ‘Dang man, we can’t do this without you’. We’re not the Warriors without Money Green. That’s just the fact. Klay Thompson replied

Thompson alluded that his teammate is one of the core reasons the Warriors have had the level of success they have had. Without him on the court, it is difficult to be as good as they could be.

The 6′ 6″ guard suggested that Stephen Curry and himself are too nice to take on the physical side of a game. As the enforcer, Green takes care of all that and helps the Splash Brothers unlock their true potential. He also suggested that when Green is off the court, they do feel bad, as they feel they could do things better, together.

Green was appreciative of whatever his co-star said, even though most of it was hard for him to take. But it should be good to hear what his teammates feel about him. There is no one more affected by Green’s absence than Thompson and Curry.

Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry, and Steve Kerr’s last dance

The quartet has been ultra-successful in the past 9 years they have been together with the Golden State Warriors. 4 titles and countless records later, the basketball world may be staring at the final few years of basketball from them. Stephen Curry’s current contract lasts up to the end of the 2025-26 season.

Draymond Green’s recent contract extension has a player option after the 2025-26 season. Head coach Steve Kerr recently signed a massive contract extension which again ends in 2026. In all likelihood Thompson will sign a new contract after this season. All of this suggests that the quartet has planned their retirement together.

And for them to extend their championship window until they retire, everyone needs to be on the court and playing at their best. Which is why here’s hoping Green takes Thompson’s heartfelt response in his stride and stays on the court until the end.
