Chelsea fans are saying the same thing about Enzo Fernandez after Manchester United win

Most of the attention has been on Chelsea’s Cole Palmer for his hat-trick in yesterday’s dramatic win over Manchester United. However, Blues fans on social media are all making the same point about Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues scored two late goals deep in stoppage time during the wild 4-3 win at home to Man United in the Premier League.

Cole Palmer, 21, was yet again the talisman for his side with is 17th, 18th and 19th goal in Chelsea colours.

We think it was another up and down performance from Enzo Fernandez versus Man United, which is a pattern in his season.

The midfielder was bypassed a bit easy at times and his passing wasn’t at its sharprest yesterday as the game became stretched.

However, he assisted Palmer’s winning goal in the 101st minute with a quick corner kick that caught out the opponents.

FotMob data gave Fernandez an eye-catching 7.5 match rating for his display versus Man United. He made 13 passes into the final third, plus made 7/9 (78%) accurate long balls.

Chelsea fans discuss Enzo Fernandez

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media all agree that Fernandez looked so much better once he dropped into a deeper midfield position in the second-half.

The Argentine central midfielder dropped a bit further back to the base when Moises Caicedo came off in the 71st minute,

Here are some Blues fans on X insisting Fernandez was far more effective once Caicedo was removed.

One fan said: “The past two games when Poch has subbed Caicedo and Enzo dropped deeper we’ve looked so so much better. I know Caicedo ain’t got goals in him like that, but they need to be flipped so we can actually control a game.”

Another wrote: “Excellent Enzo was excellent, plus he looked a lot better when Caicedo got subbed that boy belongs in the pivot dictating play rather than being up field.”

A third claimed: “What’s crazy is that every time Poch takes off Caicedo he plays Enzo deepest and all of a sudden we have some better level of control of the game.”

Another posted: “For the first time I’m worried about Caicedo. I’m sure it’ll work out long term but Enzo looks so much better when he’s deeper at the moment. Either push Caicedo on or work the rotations better so we get variations. Both are being wasted.”

A fifth supporter shared: “I thought Enzo looked better when Caicedo came off.”

Another said: “Yes Enzo was lowkey better when Caicedo came off but that first 70’ was so disappointing. Every line breaking pass got intercepted.”
