“I nearly drowned!”: Henry Cavill Can’t Stop Being Superman as Actor Saved Co-Star from Claws of Death After Major Mishap

It seems when Henry Cavill isn’t busy protecting the world, he is saving his fellow actors from ‘falling off boats’!

Have you ever wished that your favorite fictional character could actually exist and save the day? Well, for actor Alex Pettyfer, that wish seems to have been granted when his co-star, Henry Cavill, famously known as Superman, prevented him from “falling off a boat”. This near-death incident occurred on the set of their next film, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which will hit theaters next month.

Although Cavill is sadly no longer DC’s Man of Steel due to James Gunn’s takeover, it appears that the British actor, 40, has adopted Superman’s valiant traits in real life. The upcoming Guy Ritchie film, based on Damien Lewis’s book of the same name, chronicles the experiences of the British organization (Special Operations Executive) during World War II.

Henry Cavill as SupermanReal-Life Hero: Henry Cavill’s Superman Moment Saving Alex Pettyfer

As if we needed another reason to adore Henry Cavill, the talented actor recently made it clear that he is indeed a real-life superhero. While filming a scene for the soon-to-be-released Guy Ritchie film, The Witcher star saved his co-star Alex Pettyfer from a potentially hazardous situation on the set.

Pettyfer recently spoke with ET about how fun it was to work with Cavill on The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and mentioned that Cavill even saved his life from drowning:

“He saved me from falling off a boat. I nearly drowned! So I can officially say I’ve been saved by Henry. And I’m very grateful to be on this film with you.”

Pettyfer also discussed the Stardust star’s excitement on the set and his efforts to turn the film into a box-office success. More than anything, the former emphasized that there was no “hierarchy” in Cavill’s approach:

He [Henry Cavill] brings a humbleness to the set with everyone.”

With a cast that includes Cavill, Pettyfer, Alan Ritchson, Eiza González, Cary Elwes, Henry Golding, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, and others, the upcoming movie is sure to impress. With reference to the Enola Holmes star, Tiffin, 26, shared:

“Gentleman is the right word, for sure. And it’s because he has an unwavering commitment to the cause and energy and consistency and mood.”

Also, it is interesting to note that Ritchie and Cavill, who previously worked together on The Man from U.N.C.L.E., are teaming up again for the Lionsgate spy action comedy flick.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: What Else You Must Know

The plot, details on characters, and Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare history are currently being withheld. However, it is touted as a factual account based on Damien Lewis’ book of the same name, which follows the story of a secret World War II combat organization. Guy Ritchie, the director, co-writes the screenplay with Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson, and Arash Amel.

Jerry Bruckheimer, the film’s co-producer, previously shared with Collider:

“Ministry is precisely what cinemas need right now – larger-than-life entertainment with the incredible talent on both sides of the camera and an unbelievable true story.”

Cavill, who most recently acted in Matthew Vaughn’s flick, Argylle, revealed on Instagram in April that he had wrapped up filming The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. He captioned the photo as follows:

“It’s rare to come across a team so driven, dedicated and committed to the storytelling. That drive and dedication is only intensified by having a leader such as Guy Ritchie. His ability to weave story and create character might be second to none, and he wields it like it were magic.”

Despite the limited information about the flick, fans are enthusiastic because of its intriguing premise and delightful cast. Even though it is unclear if The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare will be the hit that Cavill needs, Alex Pettyfer’s latest narrative highlights what a valuable presence the Man of Steel star is on set.

The release date of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is April 19, 2024.
