One of the players highest on Chelsea’s reported transfer target list for the upcoming window has now been statistically rated as the top player in his league this season.

This is according to WhoScored, who have named the player in question in their team of the season for the respective league this season.

It has been widely claimed that a striker is near the top of Chelsea’s priority list ahead of this summer, with some still crying out for a regular goalscorer up top.

One of the names that has been reported strongest is Viktor Gyokeres, with him clearly showing he knows where the goal is this season.

He has a combined 50 goals and assists this season, and is no doubt on the agenda of a number of top clubs right now.

Chelsea are reportedly one of those though, with it being claimed that they have sent scouts on multiple occassions to watch the Sweden international in action.

Their admiration in him has been backed up by the fact that he was named one of the two strikers in the Portuguese League’s Team of the Season.

Better still, he is actually the player that has the average match rating in the league so far during this campaign.

The Blues reportedly have a number of strikers on their radar ahead of the end of the season.

Victor Osimhen has frequently been touted as a one of their top targets, however recent reports have hinted that they may face tough competition from PSG in particular for that deal.

However, Fabrizio Romano has stated today that their attention may actually be on another position entirely.

With the seemingly imminent departures of Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah, he claimed that he expects Chelsea to actually be busier looking for centre-backs this summer before anywhere else.
