Newcastle fear £60m man is going to attract interest this summer, Chelsea have already been linked

Chelsea are one club who may worry Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

Recently, Chelsea have been linked with quite a few of their players.

For example, according to journalist Simon Phillips, Sven Botman is on the Blues’ shortlist of central defenders as they look to strengthen their backline. It remains to be seen if that will stay the case after the 24-year-old’s injury.

Alexander Isak is another Newcastle player Chelsea are thought to have an interest in.

Back in January, FootballTransfers claimed that Isak is a name that the Blues have considered signing.

Newcastle fear interest in Alexander Isak

While there has not been much noise lately to suggest that Chelsea will make a move for Isak in the summer, Newcastle are not sitting comfortably.

As per GiveMeSport, the Magpies are worried that the Sweden international is going to attract suitors throughout the next transfer window.

It would not be a surprise if Chelsea were one, as Isak has been one of the best strikers in the Premier League since his £60m move to St James’ Park in 2022.

This season, Isak has scored 12 goals in 20 top-flight appearances, which is a good return. Two of those goals have actually come against Mauricio Pochettino‘s side.

Will Chelsea sign Alexander Isak this summer?

Looking at how Isak has performed in the Premier League, he could be the perfect addition to Chelsea’s squad.

The Blues are probably in need of a new centre-forward, with Nicolas Jackson the only natural No.9 at Stamford Bridge at the moment.

Again, then, it would not be a shock if Chelsea at least considered signing Isak when the transfer window opens. However, as of now, it is not a deal you would expect them to actually complete.

One reason is because they seem to be prioritising other centre-forwards at present. It has been claimed that the Blues have Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko all on their radar, focusing on bringing in either the Napoli star or RB Leipzig youngster over the Sporting Lisbon talisman.

If Chelsea fail to land any of those three names, then perhaps they will end up with Isak instead. But with Newcastle likely to be reluctant to sell one of their best players to a Premier League rival and Chelsea set to miss out on Champions League football once again, it is definitely not a deal that is going to be easy to do. A lot of things would need to happen for Isak to move to Stamford Bridge.
