‘I don’t think either of us know’, admits Conor McGregor on UFC future after ‘lack of transparency’ over return fight

CONOR McGREGOR has opened up on the “lack of transparency” surrounding his return fight with the UFC.

McGregor has been out since July 2021 when he brutally broke his leg in the first round against Dustin Poirier.

But the Irishman, who is fully recovered, has pleaded with the UFC to get his comeback signed and sealed.

He remains set to face American Michael Chandler, 37, but talks have continued to drag.

McGregor, 34, said: “We’ll still in the first quarter of this year, talks are ongoing it’s a little bit of lack of transparency, little bit on the long finger.

“I’ve got two fights left on my contract, I don’t think either of us know what the move will be.

“I just wish to get a bit more consistency with my training. Am I flat out right now? No. But I have been.

“I was scheduling for early this year, I was scheduling for January, for December even before that.

“I had camps set up, I had a camp out in Cannes in the South of France. I had a camp in Dubai also, some world champions with me.

“I put in a solid camp and I was well ready and then you get lack of transparency, it’s like you’ve just got left on seen.”

McGregor has been promoting the release of his movie debut, starring alongside Hollywood superstar Jake Gyllenhaal in a Roadhouse reboot.

And once his film obligations and St. Patricks day celebrations are over and done with, McGregor will aim for a June 29 return bout.

He said: “Then I start losing interest myself so I then get caught up in other things going on, like this and such.

“I hope just get this done, couple more days, the movie’s out what ten more days or a week.

“So once that’s done my work is finished then I’ve got Paddy’s festivities with Forged Irish Stout and the Proper 12 that I’ve got to handle.

“Once that’s then, I’m boxed away. I’m still in shape, I still train, like I said, I’ve had camps in the off so if they just give me a date I’d love to go June 29th and that will be an aim for me.”
