Anthony Joshua is optimistic about his future match with Tyson Fury
Boxer Anthony Joshua has hinted that a long-awaited fight with Tyson Fury could be coming soon.
In a recent interview on ITV, boxer Anthony Joshua opened up about a long-awaited fight with Tyson Fury that could be coming soon.
The former world heavyweight boxing champion will face Francis Ngannou on March 8 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is an event in the Riyadh Season program, starting in October 2023 with the central confrontation between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou.
Anthony Joshua appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain as part of interviews ahead of his fight with Ngannou this Friday in the Saudi Arabian capital. Joshua was asked if one of Britain’s most anticipated fights, between him and Fury, could happen.
“That’s the golden question, I think it’s coming soon. It’s been in the plans, it’s been floating around for a long time, and it has to happen. We’re discussing it. It’s definitely going to happen, it’s just a matter of time. Mark my words.”

The Englishman said negotiations had been unclear, with no specific details emerging regarding dates, locations or financial factors. However, Joshua said that he has different goals that he needs to achieve for the fight to become a reality.
Joshua and Fury had previously been involved in talks to face each other as early as 2022, after Joshua was unsuccessful in regaining his unified world heavyweight titles against Oleksandr Usyk in August 2022. Usyk defeated Joshua in 2021 to become world champion in London before their contractual rematch took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Following Joshua’s rematch loss to Usyk, Fury invited Joshua to fight for his WBC world heavyweight title in December of that year, but an agreement could not be reached. Instead, Fury fought Dereck Chisora again for a third time and won the 10th round easily.
