In a historic moment for the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), School of Law, Naziha Amin Gombillah etched her name in academic achievement by becoming the first law student to graduate with first-class honors. Her journey, marked by resilience, determination, and dedication, showcases the triumph of overcoming setbacks.

Naziha’s academic ascent was celebrated during the Second Session of the 14th Congregation at UPSA, where she graduated with a Final Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.72, earning the esteemed title of valedictorian for the graduating class of 2022. Her accolades extended further as she was recognized as the best graduating student from the UPSA Law School, excelling in both public and private law.

However, Naziha’s path to success wasn’t without its challenges. Having faced difficulties in her West African School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the subsequent need to re-sit the exam, she experienced a temporary setback that delayed her university admission by a year. Undeterred, she turned this obstacle into an opportunity for growth and learning.

A native of Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana, Naziha completed her secondary education at the Accra Girls Senior High School. Her tenacity and analytical mindset became evident during her university journey, where she not only excelled academically but also took on leadership roles, becoming the Vice President of the UPSA Law School.

Naziha’s commitment to her peers and the field of law extended beyond her academic achievements. As a student mentor, she shared her knowledge and passion for the law, tutoring and guiding fellow students. Her impact reverberated within the UPSA Law School, making her a well-known figure and a source of inspiration for her colleagues.

In her valedictory speech, Naziha expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah, acknowledging the support of the university’s management and faculty. She emphasized the transformative role her setbacks played in paving the way for multiple opportunities.

Naziha Amin Gombillah’s journey from WASSCE challenges to becoming UPSA Law School’s first-class valedictorian serves as a testament to the strength found in perseverance, determination, and an unwavering commitment to one’s goals. As she sets her sights on a future career as an International Energy Law expert and a leader in the finance industry, Naziha’s story inspires others to turn setbacks into stepping stones for success.
