Broadway at the Beach is opening a new family-friendly experience that offers pro putters and amateurs a chance to duke it out on the green while enjoying food and other amenities.
PopStroke is a new putting course opening in Myrtle Beach, set to have its grand opening March 4, 2024. Hours are set for 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to midnight on weekends.
This golf-themed attraction, co-owned by Tiger Woods, features two courses designed with the aesthetic of golf course greens but with a miniature golf feel.
Patrons can play with jumbotrons surrounding PopStroke for patrons to watch as they play.
PopStroke has an outside beer garden, four bars and 10 local draft beers. Players can walk onto the links using TaylorMade putters and order food and drinks via a mobile app on their phones designed by PopStroke. Customers can choose from a menu that includes burgers, Ahi Tuna, and other staples or enjoy one of 20 different specialty milkshakes or one of 24 flavors of ice cream.
“We have a scratch kitchen, cornhole, foosball, ping pong, a lot of backyard games, and then obviously, the children’s playground, which really kind of allows us to have an amenity here for everybody again, regardless of your age or your background,” PopStroke Founder/CEO Greg Bartoli said in an interview with The Sun News. “Obviously, golf is kind of fundamental to what we do, but it’s not the only thing we do.”

The courses are for players of all skill levels. While golf-themed and focused, Bartoli said 70% of visitors aren’t golfers.
“It can also be playable for beginners and youngsters that have never played the game of golf before,” Bartoli added. “Whereas people that are really, really seasoned putters would come out here and enjoy playing it the way you’re probably supposed to play.”

While suited for one-time outings, PopStroke will also offer locals competition they can enjoy. The facility will host putting events and putting leagues, as well as other events for people to come and relax.
“We’ve had professional golfers playing or putting events before we have prize money at certain locations where it could be like $50,000 or $100,000 and winnings,” Bartoli said. “Typically, we kick those off about two months after we open the business.”
A former Wall Street banker at JP Morgan living in Palm Beach, Florida, Bartoli opened PopStroke in 2019 and entered talks with Broadway at the Beach to bring PopStroke to the Grand Strand in late 2020.
“I think it was a mutual kind of outreach,” he said.
Bartoli also said Tiger Woods bought into the company in 2020. Myrtle Beach’s PopStroke cost between $8 million to $12 million to build, Bartoli added.
He also said that the company could expand further in the Palmetto State, speculating that places like Charleston and Hilton Head could host future PopStrokes, too. With 10 locations already open, the company has locations throughout Alabama, Arizona, Florida and Texas. The company intends to add more locations, including Las Vegas and Tennessee, in 2024.
“For people to be out there having a few cocktails, and maybe they’re waiting in line, and when you wait in line with a beer, it’s a little better,” Bartoli added. “You got the energy in the music, the TV, the jumbotrons, (the) mobile app delivery and the drinks. It creates a really fun, lively atmosphere at night especially.”
