In The Boys season 4, Billy Butcher could find Homelander to be his unlikely savior, but for a surprising reason. The Boys season 3 ending revealed that Butcher’s continued abuse of V24 has resulted in terminal illness. Although it looks like all is lost for the leader of The Boys, his villainous nemesis may not be willing to watch his opponent get off so easily. Homelander and Butcher have had a venomous feud throughout the entire run of the show so far, and The Boys season 4 may not be where it ends.

Butcher initially took V24 in an attempt to take down Homelander. However, it was clear that Butcher enjoyed the temporary spells as a Supe that the drug afforded him. When under the influence of V24, Butcher’s power has rivaled that of Homelander, gaining similar strength levels and even laser-vision. With the help of Soldier Boy in The Boys season 3, Butcher had V24 flowing through his veins when he almost managed to kill Vought International’s poster boy.

Homelander Could Turn Butcher Into A Supe Out Of Spite In The Boys Season 4

Homelander doesn’t like much beyond being the most powerful man in the room, but he’s not above enjoying the thrill of a challenge. He also relishes his hatred of Billy Butcher and the rest of his crew. The knowledge that Butcher is close to death could fuel Homelander to find some desperate way to prolong their bitter war. Homelander is no doctor, but he does have unfettered access to something that could aid him in bringing Butcher back from the brink: officially making Karl Urban’s character a Supe in The Boys season 4.

Butcher is powerful under V24, but his abilities inevitably fade due to the temporary nature of the compound. His terminal condition, while caused by V24, could be cured by the drug in its purest form. Compound V is what Vought International administers to very young children so their abilities can develop, and they can become Supes. Overpowering Butcher in his current condition is no challenge for Homelander, so Anthony Starr’s character could force the pure Compound V into Butcher’s veins. Making Butcher a full-time Supe would look like an act of mercy on the surface, but it would actually be his worst nightmare, as Homelander would be well aware.

Homelander Turning Butcher Into A Supe Would Make Their Feud Even Better

Homelander and Billy Butcher already have plenty of reasons to despise one another. The psychological and physical warfare has burned bright through the first three seasons of The Boys, but a move such as this from Homelander would intensify their ongoing battle even further. Both Homelander and Butcher are filled with hate, but Homelander pushing Butcher even further by turning him into something he loathes so purely is a surefire way to ensure further violence.

Butcher’s current motives for felling Homelander revolve around what the caped murderer did to Butcher’s wife. Adding the motivation of changing who Butcher is at his very core would stoke his already-blazing rage. Butcher would get to the point where he’s now not only unable to resist murdering Homelander but also in a permanent position to achieve the feat. Not that The Boys needs any additional drama, but this would definitely provide it.
