SCARLET WITCH Rumored Update Reveals When We Could See Elizabeth Olsen-Led Movie In Theaters

We have a possible update on the Scarlet Witch movie, specifically relating to when we’re likely to see the Elizabeth Olsen-led project arrive in theaters. Find everything we know so far after the jump…

In WandaVision, we saw Wanda Maximoff finally become the Scarlet Witch.

However, her evolution ended on a tragic note when she was forced to drop the Hex around Westview and say goodbye to both The Vision and her children, Tommy and Billy.

By the time Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness rolled around, the Darkhold had corrupted the Avenger and she went on a rampage through realities in an effort to find Variants of her twin boys.

Verging on being a full-blown villain by the time all was said and done, Wanda eventually ended up seeing the error of her ways and appeared to bury herself beneath Wundagore after using her powers to destroy every possible copy of the Darkhold throughout the Multiverse.

A blink-and-you’d-miss-it red flash suggested she might have escaped, and we’ve been hearing rumblings for a while that there are plans for the Scarlet Witch to get her own solo outing, with Elizabeth Olsen likely reprising the role in a movie.

Today, scooper @MyTimeToShineH has claimed the project is still moving forward, revealing it will either be released between Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars or following the latter.

If it’s the second option, Marvel Studios clearly has plans to keep Olsen in this role for years to come.

That may be easier said than done, particularly after the actress said last year, “Specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel. I don’t want…it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance.”

“I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them come together in the way I feel like they can. But yeah, that’s something that I need. I just need other characters in my life,” Olsen added. “There’s no longevity in one character.”

Chances are that if the Scarlet Witch movie doesn’t serve as Olsen’s farewell to the character, then one of the next Avengers movies will.

For what it’s worth, she’s not expected to make appearances in either Agatha: Darkhold Diaries or Vision Quest, though we’ve heard the former will at least address her current status.

Without the Darkhold, Wanda may have lost the ability to hop between realities, but the way she laid waste to Earth-838’s Illuminati will surely come back to haunt the fallen hero.

What would you like to see from a possible Scarlet Witch movie?
